VEH TECHs should enjoy detailed, methodical work with engines
and mechanical equipment. They should be flexible and be
able to follow instructions and ensure the work meets strict
standards. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
are important attributes. Physical strength, resourcefulness
and the ability to keep clerical records are also desirable.

Working Environment
In static units, the Veh Tech normally works in enclosed,
lighted and heated workshops. While in the field however,
duties are performed in the open or in temporary or improvised
accommodation under all types of weather conditions ranging
from extreme heat to extreme cold and wet or damp conditions.
The working conditions will include noisy and confined quarters
and exposure to heat, dust, fumes and poor ventilation.
The job has heavy physical demands; a Veh Tech must be tolerant
of situations requiring stooping, lifting heavy weights,
kneeling, crouching and standing for long periods of time.
Mental stress is normal in static employment but increases
considerably during exercises or operational conditions.
Places of employment span all Canadian Forces bases and
stations within Canada including the Arctic, and locations
throughout the world in response to NATO and UN requirements.
